DC and Me

Column after fountain after statue and white dome,

On a crisp October morning around DC we did roam...

Once arrived and settled our empty tummies’ led us to a local spot named Clyde's,

Despite its wooden interiors and federal feel, in Chinatown this place resides.

We wandered the cityscape, filled with gaze-worthy buildings and trees lining every block,

Despite the construction and stream of tourists, the architecture you could not knock,

Behind a camouflage of metal bars, the Capitol was still impressive under its new attire,

But, despite some ugly scaffolding, D.C leaves much more to admire;

The Georgetown Waterfront on a bright fall day is one of the prettiest sights to see,

There we brunched on burgers and shrimp and wallowed in the scenery.

After, we trekked to immortalised Abe and took in many an impressive sight,

Viewing the Washington Monument across the Reflecting Pool was a particular highlight.

The Smithsonian and National Art Gallery alone deserved more than one day out

But I can safely say my return to Washington exceeded expectations without a doubt!
